While Men of War Assault squad is mainly geared toward reinovating the multiplayer element of the game, it also features a single player skirmish mode where the player must complete objectives and defeat waves of enemies.

Men of War Assault Squad has a direct control feature to enable the player to take control of any unit on the field with a press of a key. This allows a fine control during firefights and allows you to pull off things like throwing grenades and aiming for specific parts on a tank with precision.

The multiplayer uses Gamespy client and has a built in ELO ranking system. Multiplayer matches can take place on dozens of maps and between the games five factions. New multiplayer maps are in the works for DLC.
